At the Abita Brewing Company we work to make great beer every day. We also work to make Abita Springs, Louisiana and the world around us a better place to live by being a good neighbor.
Our brewery is located in the beautiful piney woods north of New Orleans. We depend on the clean, pure water drawn from our natural artesian well
to make our great tasting beer. Protecting the environment and working to
keep our part of the world green and clean is a responsibility we take
very seriously.
Powered
by Beer We were the first brewery in North America to install the energy efficient Merlin Brewhouse. The Merlin captures the steam normally released during the brewing process and recycles the energy back into the system. This new technology uses 70% less energy than traditional brewing methods.
The Abita Brewing Company currently operates our own industrial wastewater treatment plant. In the future, we’ll use our wastewater to generate our own energy.
The methane gas generated by a planned
anerobic digestion system in the treatment plant
will be captured to power our boilers.
Every six-pack of Abita Beer is wrapped in an environmentally friendly way. Our six-pack wraps are designed to hold on to the bottles while using less paper…and the paper we use is made with recycled materials.
Even the spent grain and hops from the brewing process don’t go to waste. Local farmers use them as feed for their cattle.
We’re proud to be a good neighbor…a good neighbor who makes great Abita Beer.
