Donald Link Partners with Abita Beer to Create New Whole Grain Mustard

New Orleans, Louisiana – The mere mention of andouille, fried boudin or charcuterie elicits the craving for a good, whole grain mustard.  Look no further—award winning chef and restaurateur Donald Link and Chef Partner Stephen Stryjewski have just announced the release of their handcrafted mustard—Cochon’s Abita Beer Whole Grain Mustard, giving cooks everywhere the chance to enjoy the combination of flavors of Cochon Restaurant and Abita Beer.

Link and Stryjewski began developing the recipe for the whole grain mustard when they realized they could produce a better product for their restaurant needs.  “Chef Stephen and I meticulously blended ingredients until we felt we had crafted the perfect result,” states Link.  “Our goal was to incorporate the right amount of heat and sharp flavors of mustard with the robust flavors of the Abita Amber – the Abita balances the heat.”  Staying true to Link’s German heritage and in an effort to create the perfect accompaniment to Cochon’s handmade, cured meats and sausages, the chefs developed a German-style mustard, with the perfect balance of burn, spice and acidity, worthy of being served both in Link’s restaurants and on family dining tables.

Working in partnership with Abita Brewing Company to launch this mustard, Link and Stryjewski look to bring more locally produced products into the home kitchen.  “Abita Beer is a household name in Louisiana and is known for using local products in its beers,” states Link.  “Abita Amber is a principal ingredient in the Cochon mustard, so it made perfect sense to work with Abita over this past year creating something we were both pleased with; and we are excited to be able to share that local connection with consumers.”

Abita Brewing Company President David Blossman states, “We are always looking for new ways to showcase our beers, and the high quality product that Chef Link and Chef Stryjewski have crafted is one that we are all proud of and thrilled to add to our growing list of products using our beers.”  Chef Link is also featured in Abita’s newest television campaign, “True Colors of Louisiana”.

Cochon Abita Beer Mustard is produced at the Chef John Folse USDA Manufacturing Plant in Donaldsonville, Louisiana and is available for purchase at Rouse’s Supermarkets, Whole Foods Markets and other select stores including Donald Link’s Cochon Butcher.
